The third-day webinar discussed Virtual and Digital Health and Accelerating the Future. The event was held on 24th August 2022.

Mr Nithin Chandran Nair – CEO & Founder, MedPiper Technologies pursued his Health Effectiveness and Policy diploma at the London School of Economics. His main goal is to understand large social behaviour. He dived into the topics of “How mobility transformed the healthcare industry, the impact of new evolved policies that monitor the healthcare industry, and recent trends that have emerged to meet the needs. Many gears have been implemented to transform technological progress. The main goal of digital and virtual healthcare is to simplify technology, provide better health outcomes globally, and accelerate and inspire the future.

What is Digital Health?

Digital Health encompasses a larger subset of products and service bundles. It could be an EHR solution (Electronic health records), tele consults, smartphones, digital therapeutics, social messenger apps, body monitors, aggregators, wearable devices and health ids. All of these are bits and pieces of larger ecosystems. Still, health remains a single entity or feature.

Digital Health Impact on Individual

There is a lot of ambiguity and apprehension concerning digital health among the population. Digital health technologies manage patients’ health conditions by regular monitoring and diagnosis. It serves as an early detection tool which recognizes the significant changes involved in the disease progression in a patient. Digital health technologies can enable the patient’s health condition without their physical presence in a clinic or hospital. Digital health also deals with the topics of how digital health helps healthcare professionals from a career point of view, how digital health commoditizes healthcare professionals and how digital health drives more value to the customers. The process involves care and delivery. The three key areas that digital health truly covers. It includes:

  • Data
  • Knowledge
  • Analytics

Digital Healthcare Ecosystem Elements

In the digital healthcare ecosystem, the data can be contextually obtained from social determinants, environmental data and social media. The clinical data can be obtained from precision health genomics, health records and claims data. The patient-generated data can be obtained from social media, mHealth and wearables. The second aspect of digital healthcare technologies is knowledge-based data which can be extracted from decision support, clinical guidelines and research guidelines. The third and final aspect of digital healthcare technologies is Advanced analytics/ AI and data visualization.

Digital Healthcare if rightly implemented, doctors serve as the biggest asset in improving patients’ lives. Digital health technologies can be implemented while treating the patient. Through this digital technology implementation, patient information is available for easy access. Using the available patient data, doctors can optimize the treatments more smartly.

Digital Healthcare Magic

The magic in digital healthcare is today’s users are more demanding. Today’s biggest obstacle for doctors is google. As google serves as a resource for vast information, the patients are already aware of the information regarding any disease or diagnosis. Unfortunately, certain components of health are getting commoditized. Today the misinterpretation of digital health has placed doctors, consultations and diagnostics in the commodity bucket. Today the assessment of digital healthcare is fairly made on price. The more digital health tools, one utilizes in workflow, the more will be patient outcomes and the more will be better patient experience. So, the whole health engagement is monolithic. Digital health enables the care journey to be seamless, continuous and proactive.

Stakeholders’ Role in Healthcare Industries

The stakeholders mark their significance in the healthcare industry. Evolving from highly traditional and regulated industry, India’s current advantage is an NDHM ecosystem created by the government itself. It has larger markets in the US and Europe. In the USA, HIPPA is the governing body of all regulating acts. It is the governing act of how the data would be regulated or exchanged digitally. It could be from clinic to clinic, clinic to app so these regulations excise there. In India, there is an initiative where the NDHM ecosystem is initiated, and it has multiple partners and stakeholders who are responsible for the delivery of the healthcare outcome to the patients. It includes policymakers both at state government levels and public and private hospitals. It also includes NABL, labs, pharmacies, and wellness centres that provide standardized optimum care. It includes TPAs and Insurers. The ecosystem plays an active role in accelerating the process that hospitals receive payment on time.

Insurance companies also play a pivotal role in making clear protocols and maintaining the transparency of data without revealing the patient’s identity. MedPiper, a digital healthcare firm have paved its path in transforming virtual and digital healthcare. It has introduced emergent technological healthcare tools such as mscribe and Instaclinik, where the patient’s information can be deeply accessed and cross-coded with NAD. Today, when a patient visualizes healthcare, they think of modular components. The tools introduced at MedPiper enable doctors and NGOs from distant locations to monetize, drive better impact on patient’s health, and modulate better outcomes. The data stored in the software must be very precise and clear so that healthcare professionals feel secure while communicating with the patient data and can approach better healthcare prospects. Unlike MedPiper, several other healthcare companies came up with digital health advancements which accelerate the future.

Future of Digitalization in Healthcare Industries

People started moving towards digitalization and virtual healthcare prospects instead of relying on past healthcare methodologies. Even the healthcare professionals like doctors instead of following the old methodology of consultation are opting for a quick source of income through virtual and digital health platforms for consultation.

The goal at MedPiper has been to accelerate the moment of digital transformation in healthcare. At Med Piper Technologies, the primary focus is on three groups. There are medico’s, healthcare providers/ professionals. They can be physicians, practitioners, doctors and experts, healthcare organizations and patients. Eventually, patients turn up for possible outcomes. While these outcomes can be catered to only by doctors and healthcare organizations.

Healthcare organizations must have faster insurance payouts, streamline operations and showcase higher gross margins. Healthcare organizations must ensure that they have the right set of tools. Healthcare providers must focus on greater efficiency, transparency, and cost reliability. The patients opt for a quick path for patient care outcomes, possess better clarity and manage deeper relationships. Eventually, patients rely on optimum care protocol which is cost-efficient.

The healthcare applications enable customers to become smarter and more efficient, unlocking a new value creation. There are a few applications developed by MedPiper such as Resume Builder: which builds CVs.
M Connekt, HCP Wire, mScribe and Instaclinik engage the healthcare professionals. It is the way that healthcare expands with partnership integrations and healthcare organizations can strive for better outcomes and monetization and growth efficiently.
