Nearly 77,000 new oral cancer cases and 52,000 deaths are reported annually in India, which amounts to a quarter of the total prevalence in the world. Around 70% of the cases in India are reported in advanced stages, as a result, the chances of cure are very low, almost negative.
The extremely low rates of survival due to late detection of cases is due to the lack of awareness among people. Awareness about oral cancer makes a difference by saving thousands of lives through early detection and prevention.
In order to create awareness among people about the occurrence and risks associated with oral cancer, the Indian Dental Association Kerala State along with the IDA Central Kerala Kottayam Branch is hosting an e-poster competition in association with digital media partner JournoMed.
The last date to apply for the competition is September 21, 2021. The competition is open to all IDA members, students and postgraduates.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants. The first prize is Rs 3,000, the second is Rs 2,000 while the third prize is Rs 1,000.
The participants are requested to send entries to email@example.com. For further queries, candidates can contact through the WhatsApp number 9995221801.
