Doctors suggest early COVID testing for efficient treatment

Does early testing help with faster effective treatment.

Instead of self-isolating without understanding one’s health status, physicians suggest that if their condition deteriorates, people who believe they have Covid-19 should be checked to save valuable time.

Some of the families who got sick chose to not get checked. They favored remaining at home and being self-isolated. It is not advisable here. The government permits home isolation if one tests positive for Covid-19, where physicians track one ‘s condition and are available on request. But if someone is not checked and his condition at home worsens, time is lost.

The daily Covid-19 bulletin of the health department published data of people being taken dead or attending the hospital late, causing them to succumb to the deadly virus within hours of being admitted. Several patients are not aware of their status at all and test positive for Covid-19 post mortem, including their families.

The government physician warned that if a patient becomes serious and his condition is not known until tests are performed, he will first be treated as a suspect and admitted to the suspect ward. In private hospitals, testing is also available if people are apprehensive about attending government-run health care facilities.

In controlling the infection, having self-checked also goes a long way. Another healthcare professional said that if a patient opts for home isolation after being checked or is admitted to a COVID treatment facility, it will protect several others, particularly the elderly and other people who are at risk at home.

The government has indicated that smokers, those over 60 years of age, and those with non-communicable diseases like heart diseases (heart attack/stroke), respiratory illness, cancer, and diabetes are people who are at a higher risk of developing complications due to Covid-19.
