Decoding the Digital Mental Health Ecosystem

Mental health disorders represent the leading cause of disability worldwide and should be addressed at the earliest in order to avoid devastating consequences. The affected individuals should be able to consult and talk freely with a mental health specialist which will help to improve their quality of life. To this end, developing mobile health (mHealth) and digital tools can offer innovative ways to help develop and facilitate mental health care provisions. 

MedPiper Technologies and JournoMed along with Bombay Psychiatric Society, Schizophrenia Research Foundation India (SCARF), and India Association of Private Psychiatry (IAPP) are conducting a webinar titled “Decoding Digital Mental Health Ecosystem: Opportunities for Mobile Health Innovators & Robotics”

  1. Dr. Sridhar Vaitheswaran MD, MRCPsych , Assistant Director & Consultant Psychiatrist, Dementia Care in SCARF – DEMCARES, Schizophrenia Research Foundation India.
  2. Mr. D Kotteswara Rao, Assistant Director, Schizophrenia Research Foundation India, Member, State Mental Health Authority (SMHA), Government of Tamil Nadu. 

The event will be moderated by Dr Avinash Desousa, Consultant Psychiatrist, Founder Trustee Desousa Foundation, Hon. President Bombay Psychiatric Society and Hon. Secretary General Indian Association of Private Psychiatry. 

The webinar will discuss the various ways in which the digital mental health ecosystem can be improved and made accessible to those who are suffering. Dr. Sridhar will be talking about how Robotics can be implemented to increase the efficiency of digital mental health solutions. Mr. Rao will talk about how mental health facilities can be made available to the rural areas through telepsychiatry facilities. 

Digital mental health technologies can enable the early identification of conditions, and facilitate disease management and treatment while empowering patients to make better informed decisions about their own health

  1. Bombay Psychiatric Society is an autonomous body of Mental Health professionals in the city of Mumbai, working for the cause of positive mental health by promoting prevention, control, treatment and relief of all psychiatric disabilities.
  2. IAPP was established in April 2000 in order to promote the professional needs of psychiatrist and other mental health professionals especially those in the private and other non-governmental sectors.
  3. Dementia Care in SCARF (DEMCARES) is a project of Schizophrenia Research Foundation India, a leading non-governmental organisation in mental health care and research in Chennai, India.
